Put your child on track for success in math and science. ASU@Lake Havasu is offering summer camps that offer fun, hands-on enrichment activities from local experts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Campers will participate in activities developed to complement school curriculum in STEM subjects and to increase interest in careers that use math and science.
The ASU Havasu Summer Science Camp’s focus is hands-on projects where students explore sustainability and engineering concepts. Each day students will design and build items, like pulley systems, dams, water clean up systems, etc. They will find ways to use items from home for sustainability purposes. Campers will be planning, building, and collaborating about the best methods to encourage sustainability, while learning about the fundamentals of engineering. These activities are designed to foster curiosity about how science is used in the real world, leading to a possible career interest.
The ASU Havasu Summer Math Camp will explore 3 math topics with hands-on activities. In Statistics in Society, campers will investigate data, analyze data and apply statistics concepts to the data that they gather. In Life Graphs, they will explore topics in graphing that come up in real world applications and examine concepts of 2 dimensional graphs including slope and building functions from real world data. In Math of Architecture and Design, campers will explore and model geometric and algebraic forms that are present in buildings and art. These 3 topics will help students to get a head start on Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Calculus concepts that they will develop in High School.
