Meet with an internship advisor who will explain the process to you and answer all of your questions.

Why should you consider an internship?

  • To explore whether a certain career path is right for you.
  • It’s a chance to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to a practical situation or setting.
  • To build your resume and develop your professional network.
  • Most students can earn one to nine upper-division (484) credits toward their program of study.

What you need to know about internships:

  • You typically need at least 60 credits to be eligible for an internship in your program of study.
  • While some internships are paid, many are not.
  • Most internships at ASU at Lake Havasu are during the fall and spring semesters, but there are some opportunities in the summer.
  • Internships are usually part-time (three to 25 hours per week) depending on how many credits are being earned.
  • Internship hours tend to be flexible to accommodate a student’s class, work and personal schedules.
Jonathan O'Neill

"Participating in ASU's internship program proved to be a valuable experience for me. It provided insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of a physical therapist, exposing me to a wide range of complex conditions, surgeries, and injuries. I honed my communication skills with patients of all ages, learning to effectively interact and empathize with their needs. Additionally, I developed the habit of taking detailed notes during patient interactions, allowing me to reflect on my experiences and delve deeper into unfamiliar conditions or treatment interventions. I highly recommend internships to other students considering a career in physical therapy or a related field."
